Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, calls on the Local Authorities for realizing the Common Responsibility for the Processes in Ukraine

Commenting on the latest protests of the local authorities dedicated to the first anniversary of Viktor Yanukovych presidency, V. Lytvyn stated that political war had not stopped after the elections of the President of Ukraine. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada considers such a situation inadmissible for the state, as it impedes normal life of the country and the people.

"I am convinced that political parties and citizens are entitled to freely express their opinion about particular events or politicians, although I consider it abnormal that some local self-government bodies have been involved in this process", V. Lytvyn explained. "They have obviously forgotten that they are a part of the authority embodied by the President of Ukraine. They shall be aware of the fact that it is impossible to work, shifting public attention to the less important objects, avoiding responsibility for the local work", V. Lytvyn declared.

Volodymyr Lytvyn calls on the heads of the local self-government bodies "for understanding that they do not belong to a specific party but to the whole Ukrainian society", "for being moderate and responsible." According to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, "All of us, from the President of the State to a deputy of a village council, are responsible for the situation in Ukraine and its future."
